PROFILE

My name is Evandro Henrique. I am 18 years old and I was born in Natal. I consider myself a happy person, always doing well in life. Although born in Natal, I lived 11 years in Maceió-AL, where I attended all my school and part of high school. Returning to Natal, I finished high school in 2010 Colégio Cei Mirassol, from where I bring great memories.
My hobby is to create animals. I have already created dog, fish and poultry. Currently I am coming back to breeding of dogs and opening a kennel. I enjoy spending time with dogs because of their behavior, their ingenuity, their love. In fact, I prefer to deal with these animals than with a human being.
I love spending time with my family, almost all time with my parents. In fact I am very homely; I do not trade a weekend with my parents for anything. My relationship with them has always been very open, there was never pressure on the choice of course for college, which there was support.
Having doubts about what engineering I would like to attend, I chose the Bachelor in Sciences and Technology. The curse offers something different, the opportunity to study three years before choose which engineering attend. I can choose with more mature. Nowadays my objective is to study Petroleum Engineering and try to achieve a dream that I have since I was a child: work in Petrobrás.

Fibonacci Numbers

In mathematics, the Fibonacci numbers are the numbers in the following integer sequence:
0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144, …
By definition, the first two numbers in the Fibonacci sequence are 0 and 1, and each subsequent number is the sum of the previous two.
In mathematical terms, the sequence Fn of Fibonacci numbers is defined by the recurrence relation
Fn = Fn-1 + Fn-2,
with seed values
F0 = 0, F1 = 1.
The Fibonacci sequence is named after Leonardo of Pisa, who was known as Fibonacci. Fibonacci's 1202 book Liber Abaci introduced the sequence to Western European mathematics, although the sequence had been described earlier in Indian mathematics. (By modern convention, the sequence begins with F0 = 0. The Liber Abaci began the sequence with F1 = 1, omitting the initial 0, and the sequence is still written this way by some.)
Fibonacci numbers are closely related to Lucas numbers in that they are a complementary pair of Lucas sequences. They are intimately connected with the golden ratio, for example the closest rational approximations to the ratio are 2/1, 3/2, 5/3, 8/5, ... . Applications include computer algorithms such as the Fibonacci search technique and the Fibonacci heap data structure, and graphs called Fibonacci cubes used for interconnecting parallel and distributed systems. They also appear in biological settings, such as branching in trees, arrangement of leaves on a stem, the fruit spouts of a pineapple, the flowering of artichoke, an uncurling fern and the arrangement of a pine cone.

SUMMARY
Piece of Mind: Is the Internet Replacing Our Ability to Remember?

            The internet is in all corners of the world. Because of this, information is near-ubiquitous. The question is: is the internet replacing our ability to remember? The answer for these question, according some researchers, is NO.
            The social psychologist Daniel Wegner says that the Internet has become a primary form of external or "transactive" memory. In a summarized explanation, “transactive” memory is where information is stored collectively outside the brain.
            Comparing our times to the past, internet is just replacing books, libraries, notes, which people were used to rely their information’s source. Now, however, besides oral and printed sources of information, our collective and institutional knowledge bases reside online and in data storage.
            The psychologist Betsy Sparrow, give us an example. On TV, she saw an actress whose face she could not quite place. Using internet she quickly discovered that the actress was Angela Lansbury. Rather than search on internet, she would have asked a friend or consult a cinema reference book.
            Talking about the importance, rather than memorize, Sparrow consider it is far more important to understand information on a conceptual level.
John Suler, in agreement with Sparrow, suspect “that we're still going to remember information that's important to us, while relying on the Internet to verify what we think might be true or have forgotten, and to provide new information to which we were never exposed”. In a nutshell, even with “transactive” memory, we did not lose the ability to remember or memorize.
To finalize, the Internet is just like any other memory system—the need for critical thinking does not diminish, regardless of where the information is stored.

PROFILE

          My name is Guilherme and I am 17 years old. I have a mixed Brazilian family. My father was born in Caicó - RN, my mother is from São Sepé – RS. My brother and I are from Boa Vista – RR.
          Therefore, I have been meeting different cultures since I “came to this world” and to know more people and new cultures, I try to travel at each opportunity I have.
          Regarding my formation, my parents always gave me the best. I had studied my entire life at private schools. Because of that, I study at UFRN, one of the best federal institutes in Brazil. My course is Science and Technologies, and I do one thing which I love: study.
          At the university I am involved in two projects. I am a scientific initiation student of “Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico – CNPq”, studying a multidisciplinary subject of physics. The other project is about sustainable energies, on the “Grupo de Estudos Aplicados em Energias Sustentáveis – GEApES/ECO-KARÁ”.
          About hobbies and sports, I have played handball since 2006. But exceptionally this semester (2011.2) I am not playing because I have no spare time. I like to play guitar and I am learning how to play harmonica. I am a talkative and extrovert person too, so I like to meet people and make new friends. It is easier for me to work in groups. On the other hand, I prefer to study alone.
          My plans for the future are to travel and study abroad, to finish my undergraduate and then do a post-graduation studies. I do not think about having a family in the near future. I will wait longer for this, because I want to have time for me and my academic formation, and perhaps after that start a family.
